How to Mount and Boresight a Riflescope
Whether you're an experienced shooter or a novice mounting your first scope - if its something you don't do regularly this video is a great tutorial for how to properly mount and boresight a riflescope. Please keep in mind boresighting a rifle isn't intended to make the rifle accurate - just accurate enough to get you on paper so you can properly sight in your rifle for your specific target or hunting ammunition.
Step 1 - Make sure your firearm is unloaded.
Step 2 - Mount the correct base to your firearm.
Step 3 - Follow torque specifications for tightening base screws.
Step 4 - Mount your rings to your base.
Step 5 - Follow torque specification for tightening ring screws to the base. Hint - polymer inserts, like those found in the Burris Signature line, help protect the finish of your scope tube.
Step 6 - Screw in top of rings finger tight.
Step 7 - Maintain level while tightening rings - use a bubble level for the rifle AND the scope to ensure the optic is mounted level.
Step 8 - Set eye relief BEFORE tightening down top rings.
Step 9 - Torque down all screws to specifications.
Step 10 - Boresight your rifle.
That's it! Now that you've mounted and boresighted your rifle you're ready to hit the range and find tune your point of aim.
