Radical Reticles

The Right Tools For The Job

Ballistic Plex
Precision rangefinders, specialized rifles and more accurate ammunition have removed some of the variables in long-range shooting. However, with a basic crosshair reticle, calculating hold-over is a mix of art, science and just plain luck.
Which is exactly why Burris developed the Ballistic Plex reticle. The key is the copyrighted lower vertical crosshair. With most common hunting cartridges, a shooter can use the reticle to compensate for bullet drop and aim dead-on at targets from 100 to 500 yards out. The need for hold-over guesstimation is eliminated.
Using it is simple. Start by sighting-in your rifle at 100 or 200 yards at your scope’s highest magnification. Then, once you determine the distance to your target, select the appropriate ballistic line. Add slight hold-over or hold-under for in-between yardages and take the shot.

Ballistic Plex E1™
The same effectiveness of the Ballistic Plex, but the E1™ (Enhanced) design (available in the new Six X scope) adds a simple, uncluttered yet highly effective method of compensating for wind drift. The dots placed to the left and right of the reticle represent the effect of a 10 mph crosswind for most big game hunting cartridges. If the crosswind is more like 5 mph, simply hold into the wind half the distance to the dot. If the crosswind is more like 20 mph, simply hold into the wind twice the distance from the center post to the dot.

Ballistic Mil-Dot
This popular and versatile reticle enhances a standard Mil-Dot with a unique Burris design on the lower crosshair that automatically compensates for bullet drop. The calibration marks allow dead-on aiming from 100 to 600 yards for most common flat-shooting rifle cartridges. The additional Mil-Dot quadrants can be used to gauge distance and help compensate for wind drift.
The power ring has a calibration mark set at roughly 14 power which provides the trajectory compensation shown in the table. You can also alter the magnification and make your own calibration mark.

Ballistic 5.56 GEN2 Reticle
The Ballistic 5.56 GEN2 reticle for the 1X-4X XTR scope was developed for competitive shooters, law enforcement, and military applications. The lighted circular ‘donut’ in the center provides ultra fast engagement at close distances. The center dots and lower leg of the reticle provides trajectory compensation for the 5.56 62grain FMJ cartridge out to 1000 yards yet is very accurate with a number of other loadings out to 600 or 700 yards. The left, right, and upper reticle posts feature precise bars for milling target sizes and distances.

Ballistic 7.62 Reticle
The Ballistic 7.62 reticle for the 1.5X-6X XTR scope was also developed for competitive shooters, law enforcement, and military applications. The center dots and lower leg of the reticle provides trajectory compensation for the 7.62 150 grain FMJ cartridge out to 1000 yards yet is very accurate with a number of other loadings out to 600 or 700 yards. The left, right, and upper reticle posts feature precise bars for milling target sizes and distances.

LRS™
Lighted Reticle Scopes

Another simple yet highly effective Burris innovation — the lighted reticle scope. Any hunter who has tried to settle standard black crosshairs on a black bear or wild boar, or attempted to put the hammer down on a buck right at dusk recognizes the necessity for a lighted reticle.
The Electro-Dot reticle provides a brilliant aiming spot at the center of the crosshair. The LRS 3P#4 delivers a red dot aiming point with European flair. There’s even an LRS version of the legendary Burris Ballistic Plex for connecting on long shots in a full range of lighting conditions.
Of course, they are Burris’, so the optical quality of all LRS scopes is superb.
If you should lose battery power on a Burris lighted reticle scope, the reticle converts to standard black.
